MENSURATION: SQUARE
In mathematics, a square represents a closed geometrical shape which has four equal sides and four right angles, the right angle means 90 degrees.
Properties of Square
- l is the side length the square
- d is the diagonal of the square
- All internal angle is 90 degree
- All side are equal
Important Formula for Square
Area Of Square (A)
Area(A) = Side(l) X Side(l)
Example: Calculate the area of a square whose side is 4cm
Given: Side(l) = 4cm
Formula:
Area(A) = Side(l) X Side(l)
Area(A) = 4cm X 4cm
Area(A) = 16 cm^2
Area of given square is 16 cm^2
Perimeter of Square(P)
Perimeter(P) = 4 x Side(l)
Example: Calculate the perimeter of a square whose side is 4cm
Given: Side(l) = 4cm
Formula:
Perimeter(P) = 4 x Side(l)
Perimeter(P) = 4 x 4cm
Perimeter(P) = 4 x 4cm
Perimeter(P) = 16 cm
The perimeter of the given square is 16 cmDiagonal of Square(D)
Diagonal(D) = Sqrt(2) x Side(l)
Example: Calculate the diagonal of a square whose side is 4cm
Given: Side(l) = 4cm
Formula:
Diagonal(D) = Sqrt(2) x Side(l)
Diagonal(D) = Sqrt(2) x 4cm
Diagonal(D) = 1.414 x 4cm
Diagonal(D) = 5.656 cm
Diagonal of given square is 5.656 cm
